Edited by: Big Gulpp on 04/08/2009 22:26:56 It is dissapointing that we live in times where the idea of "honor" is nothing more than a term and definition in a dictionary. I lost a small POS today, and yes i suppose these are my "tears". But it is sad to see that players will take out others without any provocation or motive, but only because they can. I will replace it, rebuild and move on. However, I have always believed that a fight worth fighting, is only fought in self defense or to challenge one's self. Not simply because "I can". This seems cowardly and insincere to me.

Sorry if Hollywood lied to you about this.
U are right. The reward comes from within.

I will replace it, rebuild and move on. However, I will no longer let the lesser player who is afk'ing in his hulk or the weak pvp'er keep their ship.
And this, was just me venting. I will always give the lesser guy a fair deal. Its just me.

Japanese philosophy that the Samurai code was based on, in which you are nothing without your honor and your word.
Something like this?
Bushido (武士道?), meaning "Way of the Warrior", is a Japanese code of conduct and a way of the samurai life, loosely analogous to the concept of chivalry.

Originally by: Talon Aidian Honor is something very rare in Eve. A player with honor and who is trustworthy is a very rare occurance in this game, where pirates and griefers are the norm.
I can say from personal experience that those who value honor are looked down upon by the rest of the Eve populace. I had to leave my old Corp because they decided to enter an Alliance that worked with the Goons, who I will never accept, and so I know the cost of Honor here.
I hope you find others you can trust, but remember that this game is set up to promote treachery and piracy. Keep that in mind, and you should avoid too many surprises.
Good luck, and I hope you keep your own head high while others bend under the weight of their actions.
This.

Yeah, and if you were not able to defend your land/property you would loose it. I believe that has applied through the ages of humanity and gaming.
Definition and spelling of honor Here
It was a poorly defended POS. Having a small facilitates mobility and I gambled that putting a small tower up, wouldn't seem worthwhile to destroy as opposed to a larger one with lots of isk invested. So my losses were small. Lesson learned, I suppose.

It wasn't the pos I cared about. It was the loss of my isk printing wormhole that blows the most. Poop.

ąshow up all over the place in "I'm a victim!"-speeches, but are very rare when you actually look at the motivations involved.
The OP claims his POS was killed "because they can" but provides no basis for this assertion. He presumes that they have no "honour" (the relevance of which is yet to be explained) because there was no reason for him to be attacksą even though it's far more likely that he just cannot figure out the reason.
This. I did not understand the motive. Although my aggresors did profit from looting the cargo of one of my floating ships, in my experience there is little profit taking down a pos.

I believe this thread is nearing its end. I appreciate everyones input and opinions.
In conclusion, I may have been rash and quick to temper considering the loss of such a sweet location. I brought up honor, which may have naught to do with my scenario.
I leave this topic with a better understanding of eve and its players, it cost me about a billion isk but that is recoverable. And hats off to Cypherus for making his pos siege profitable. It must've been rewarding after waiting a day or two for the stront to run out.
Again thanks to all that have contributed. BG

Excellent statement! I will reiterate that honour/honor may have not been the best term to use here, although I will say a code of conduct definitely comes into play. I have CHOSEN not to grief or destroy players that do not have defensive or offensive capabilities. I.E. Hulks, freighters, or other non-combat vessels. I have let these players go after putting them into structure and telling them to "be more careful" My POS sucked and that's that. Lesson learned but i won't bring my alt's NYX out to kill a small poorly defended POS. My .02
